Weekly Card Pull: Oct. 4-10
Some weeks invite us inward. Others ask us to say the thing, draw the line, make the change, or finally acknowledge what we already know. This week feels like a little bit of both.
For this week’s collective reading, I pulled Cycles from The Moon Deck by Aarona Lea, illustrated by Andrea Keh, alongside the Five of Wands from the tarot.
Together, they feel like an invitation to pay attention to what friction is revealing.
🌙 The Energy: Cycles
My emotions move through cycles and connect me to my truth.
What I love about this card is the reminder that are emotions are not static.
They wax and wane, rise and fall. They expand and contract. Something that feels really intense today may soften tomorrow, while something we thought we'd gotten over may come up again begging for our attention.
There are seasons when we are quieter and more reflective, when we need more rest, when something is still cooking beneath the surface.
Then there are seasons when our energy feels more expansive. We speak. We move. We create. We become much less willing to ignore the things that have been quietly bothering us.
None of these states are by default more "right" than the others. They're all information. Our emotions can help us to see what really matters, what feels out of alignment, what needs soothing, and what we may no longer be willing to tolerate. That doesn't mean that every emotion requires an immediate response; but when we allow ourselves to notice what we're feeling instead of overriding it, we may find ourselves closer to what's true for us.
This week, pay attention to: what your changing emotions may be helping you see more clearly.
🔮 The Tarot: 5 of Wands
Then we have the Five of Wands. This card brings up conflict, competing priorities, different perspectives, and a lot of different energy moving at once. This could look like actual disagreement or feel like a lot of noise.
Too many people with opinions. Too many things asking for your attention. Too many conflicting expectations placed on you. Or even different part of you wanting different things at the same time.
This is where connecting with Cycles is interesting. The presence of friction doesn't automatically mean we need to fight. But it doesn't mean we should ignore it either.
Recently, I had one of those moments where something happened and I could immediately feel my body react.
Instead of responding right away, I stepped outside. I walked and gave myself a little room to ask: Do I actually need to do something about this?
And sometimes the answer is no. Sometimes we discover that something simply irritated us in the moment and we can allow it to pass. But sometimes, once the initial intensity settles, the answer is still. Yes. This matters to me.
That's information too.
Our emotions may change from moment to moment, day to day, or week to week. But that doesn't make them meaningless or say that anything's wrong with you. Sometimes the way a feeling returns - or the way it changes - helps us see somethign that wasn't as clear before or we were ready to address before. The question is whether we are giving ourselves enough space to understand what our emotions are actually showing us.
The invitation: This week, notice the friction.
Before immediately fighting it, fixing it, or pushing it away, give yourself enough space to understand what it's bringing up.
Check in with your body. Notice what feels energetic. Notice what changes. Notice what keeps coming up. Ask yourself what's asking to be acknowledged.
Your emotions do not have to control your choices to be worthy of your attention. Sometimes they are helping you find the truth underneath the noise.
A Question to Carry With You
What is this friction stirring in me - and what, if anything, do I want to do about it?
You don’t have to have an answer right away. Just notice what comes up when you give yourself enough space to listen.
