Your Weekly Card Pull: Oct.11-17

Updated: Oct 12

Each week, I pull two cards for the collective: this month, I'm pulling one from the Moon Oracle (written by Aarona Lea and illustrated by Andrea Keh) to look at the energy surrounding us, and one from the tarot to explore how we might work with that energy in our actual lives. As always, take what resonates and leave what doesn’t.

🌙 The Energy: Meditate

I am at home in my body and at peace in my spirit

The Meditate card from the Moon Deck, reminds us that mediation is a practice of mindfulness, acceptance, and getting to know ourselves better. It's about creating a space within ourselves where we can observe what's happening without immediately needing to judge, change, or 'make sense' of it.

We spend a lot of time in our heads trying to sort things out, weigh pros and cons, deciding what comes next and then and then.... When we create a warm, accepting space within ourselves, we can allow for the settling of ideas into the body. We can begin to notice what comes up physically and emotionally.

This week, pay attention to:

  • what happens in your body when you entertain new possibilities

  • whether you're giving yourself room to explore without immediately needing the "right" answer

đź”® The Tarot: Ace of Swords

The Ace of Swords brings the energy of new ideas, mental clarity, and fresh perspectives. As a card that's associated with air, it invites us into the realm of thought and understanding. I can represent a breakthrough, a fresh realization, or a chance to see something differently than we've seen before.

It's a "breath of fresh air" - a new way of thinking that can open doors we didn't realize were there.

But paired with the Meditate card, I think we're being invited to do more than mentally explore those possibilities. We're being invited to experience what those new perspectives feel like within us. Rather than immediately analyzing an idea to death, what if we allowed ourselves to just sit with it?

What is we gave ourselves permission to notice how it lands in the body? There could be excitement, tension, curiosity, discomfort, a sense of peace.

The Ace opens the door to the new way of thinking. Meditate invites us to create the space to experience it.

The invitation: This week, be intentional about giving yourself space to safely explore new ideas and perspectives, not just in you mind, but in your body.

This doesn't have to look like a formal meditation practice. It could be sitting by a window, eyes closed, with your morning tea or coffee, feeling waaaarm and cozy, and allowing a new idea to feel its way through your body.

Maybe it's taking a few minutes to close your eyes, breathe, and notice what comes up when you consider a possibility you've been thinking about...

Maybe it's a more traditional meditation practice, where you intentionally create space to observe your sensations.

You do you, just give yourself permission to be curious about what you're experiencing.

A Question to Carry With You

What new idea or perspective have I been exploring in my mind, and what happens when I give myself space to experience that in my body?

You don't need everything to make sense right away as things come up. Simply allow your body to respond to the new thing.
